Getting Started

Matchply is a sports matchmaking platform. It helps you find opponents and teammates, set up games, run your team and keep score - for any skill level.

Anyone who wants to play and compete:

  • Players - find an opponent or a pickup game near you, at the time you want.
  • Organizers - set up a game at a public court (first come, first served), at a place you rented, or on your own property, and let players join - free, split at the venue, or with an entry fee.
  • Teams - manage your roster, RSVPs, lineups and team matches, and challenge other teams.
  • Venues - list your courts and fields so players can book them through Matchply.
  • Tournament and league hosts - publish tournaments and leagues and run them in the app.
  • Referees - apply to officiate matches and get assigned to games.

Matchply is built for any sport or competition you can play against someone - one on one, team against team, or a friendly challenge. We're adding sports step by step.

Don't see yours yet? Tell us at [email protected] and we'll consider it for the next additions.

Yes. With the free plan you can join matches and pickup games, join teams, and use live scores, match history and stats.

Paid plans (Starter, Leader and Manager) add tools for people who organize: an exact time and place, match rules, challenges, guest players and collecting payments in the app.

Matchply is coming soon to the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). We're in the final release phase.

Matchply is developed and operated by Balkania LLC, Georgetown, Texas, USA.

Matches

Tell us the sport, the date, a time window and an area. Matchply pairs you with a player or team whose search fits yours - same sport and day, overlapping time, within reach, and compatible rules and cost. Both sides confirm the match before it's on.

Your search goes back into the pool and keeps looking. You won't be matched with that same player in that sport again for 30 days.

A group game that fills up as players join. When it's full, players pick their teams, agree on the details, and play.

On a Starter plan or higher, you can challenge your friends directly: pick friends, a sport, split the teams, and choose a time and place - or start a Flash Challenge right now, where you are.

Friend challenges are just for fun: they don't count toward your match history or stats.

Team owners and admins can also challenge another team of the same sport. Once the other team accepts, it is a regular team match - it counts toward history and stats. A team can turn off challenges in its team settings.

One of the players, both players, or a third person such as a referee can track the score live - on a phone or an Apple Watch. You agree on who before the game.

Both sides confirm the final result. If you disagree with a result, you can open a dispute.

Yes. Whoever tracks the score can run the live score from an Apple Watch.

Payments & Plans

  • Starter - games with an exact time and place, preset match rules, challenges, and guest players for your team.
  • Leader - everything in Starter, plus your own match rules and collecting payments from players in the app (fee: 10% + $0.30 per payment).
  • Manager - for high-volume organizers: a lower fee (3% + $0.30 per payment) and inviting players straight into your games.

Prices and free trials are shown in the app before you buy.

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.

When you join a game with an entry fee, your card is authorized first and charged once your spot is confirmed. Payments are processed securely by Stripe - Matchply never sees your full card number.

  • The organizer cancels, removes you, or the game is called off: full refund.
  • You cancel 3 hours or more before the start: decided when the game starts - if a paying player has taken your spot, you get what you paid minus the card processing fee; if not, you get 50% back.
  • You cancel less than 3 hours before the start: no refund.

Refunds go back to your card automatically and can take 5-10 business days to show.

Subscriptions are refunded by Apple or Google under their own policies.

  • Entry fee: per team for team events (paid by the owner or admin who signs the team up), per player for individual events. You pay in the app.
  • Host approval: if the host approves each sign-up, your card is only put on hold and charged when you are approved. If the host declines - or doesn't answer within 6 days - the hold is released and you pay nothing.
  • You cancel: the host's refund rule applies (shown on the event page before you sign up). The card processing fee is not refunded.
  • The host cancels the event: everyone gets a full refund.

The players share the court cost and pay it on site. This money isn't collected, held or refunded by Matchply. Pay on site, and never send money in advance to someone you don't know.

On a Leader or Manager plan, set up payouts in the app (powered by Stripe). Player payments go to your account minus the Matchply fee, which is shown before you publish the game.

Teams

Create a team in the app, or find teams near you and ask to join. Team owners can add admins to help run the team.

Team members confirm whether they're coming to a match (RSVP). If the team is short of players, admins can open spots so other players can join that match.

Safety & Account

Open the player's profile and tap Block or Report. Reports are reviewed by our team. Blocked players can't be matched with you or join your games.
